Ajami kiosk

The next few pictures are all of the Ajami neighbourhood in Jaffa, a very interesting place with a mixed Muslim, Jewish and Christian population. The area is being rapidly developed, smart (and expensive) apartment blocks going up everywhere, rents are expensive and not everyone is happy about it. This is a tiny kiosk (corner shop) selling fruit, vegetables, and other basic goods. I hope this does not sound morbid or upset anyone, but the notices pasted to the wall (with photographs and crosses) are death notices of local people, announcing where the funeral will be held and mentioning who the person’s family is. These are Christian Arab notices (hence the crosses…) but Jews and Muslims have exactly the same thing.
